North Rhine-Westphalia's Media Minister Nathanael Liminski (CDU) sees a serious willingness among the public broadcasters ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio to put their own structures and program offerings under scrutiny.

In an interview with Deutschlandfunk, which was to be broadcast in full on Sunday at 11:05 a.m., Liminski emphasized that he had been working full-time in media policy for a good eight years. During this time, the tone had fundamentally changed: "Es gehe nicht mehr darum, sich als Bollwerk der Demokratie zu gerieren, an dem jede Kritik verboten sei", said Liminski. Rather, there is a genuine willingness on the part of the broadcasters to question structures. This also applies to the question of whether they had always taken everything into account in their program offerings.
