The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) warned on Friday of possible train cancellations and schedule changes due to extreme temperatures, urging passengers to check their connection before starting their journey.
Impact on the timetable
The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) pointed out the consequences of an "außergewöhnlichen Wettersituation" in a statement on Friday. For "unbedingt notwendige Reisen," the ÖBB recommend checking the connection before starting the trip, allowing more time for the journey, bringing enough drinking water, and ensuring sun protection.
The statement said that for the safety of passengers and employees, "müssen bei extremen Temperaturen Maßnahmen gesetzt werden, die sich auch auf den Fahrplan auswirken können." The railway justified operational restrictions by saying that safety was the top priority.
