The Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) has revised its forecasts for economic growth and inflation in Austria for the years 2026 and 2027 downward.

Growth and Inflation in the Mild Scenario

According to the central bank's scenario published on Thursday, gross domestic product (GDP) will grow by only 0.5 percent in the current year, provided that commodity prices return to their pre-Iran-war levels. For 2027, the OeNB expects an acceleration to 1.4 percent in this mild scenario.

The central bank sees the inflation rate at 2.9 percent in 2026. For the following year, the OeNB forecasts a decline in inflation to 1.7 percent. Inflation is thus above the ECB target of two percent, but approaches it during the projection horizon.
