Leipzig, 27 May 2026
Oliver Glasner will take charge of Crystal Palace for the last time on Wednesday evening when the South London club faces Spanish side Rayo Vallecano in the UEFA Conference League final in Leipzig, aiming to crown his transformative spell with a second European honour.
Ahead of the match, the 51-year-old Austrian could barely contain his anticipation. "Wenn man einen Film sieht oder ein Buch liest, hofft man immer auf ein Happy End," Glasner said. "Diese mehr als zweijährige Reise mit einem weiteren Titel zu beenden, mit dem ersten europäischen Titel in der Geschichte von Crystal Palace, das wäre unglaublich."
Glasner arrived at Selhurst Park in February 2024 with the team languishing in 15th place in the Premier League. By the end of that first campaign, he had engineered a dramatic turnaround, culminating in a historic 1-0 FA Cup victory over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. "Man kann sehen, was man bekommt, wenn ein Klub geduldig ist," the manager reflected at the time, praising the supporters who backed the side despite a paltry three points from their first eight fixtures.
