Ombudsperson Walter Rosenkranz faces growing pressure due to criticism of a constitutional protection report and accusations related to right-wing extremist mandataries. The Greens and NEOS demand consequences; ÖVP and NEOS reject a removal from office, citing 1933. Parliament must now decide on further proceedings.
Ombudsperson Walter Rosenkranz is under fire for controversial remarks about a constitutional protection report and for accusations surrounding right-wing extremist mandataries, but he remains in office for now.
The accusations against the chief ombudsperson are weighty: he is said to have spoken disparagingly about the constitutional protection report in an interview and to have stated verbatim: "Da steht viel drinnen". Furthermore, he is accused of downplaying the danger posed by several right-wing extremist "Pamis" and of blocking them from being reviewed by the constitutional protection authorities.
