Following a security incident in the morning, the Federal Police evacuated Hamburg Airport; in the meantime, the operation has been concluded and flight operations are gradually resuming.

On Friday morning, there was a large-scale police operation at Hamburg Airport. As a spokesperson for the Federal Police explained, all passengers had to leave the area behind the security checkpoints. The airport then had to be evacuated due to the "police situation," as stated in a communication.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m., a security incident occurred. According to a Federal Police spokesperson speaking to NDR, a man had accidentally activated an emergency switch. This action triggered the evacuation of the terminal, as reported by the German Press Agency (dpa). The background was initially unclear.
