Pakistan's federal government filed a petition on Wednesday challenging a Supreme Court order to move imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan from prison to a private hospital for medical treatment.
The petition, lodged with the Supreme Court, contests a previous judicial instruction that Khan be shifted to a private facility for evaluation and treatment of an eye condition. According to the petition filing, the government argues that implementing the order on the specific circumstances of one prisoner would create systemic problems across the prison system.
