The praline manufacturer DreiMeister from Werl-Westönnen in the Soest district is closing after 53 years; 101 employees are losing their jobs and will receive unemployment benefits immediately.
The DreiMeister Spezialitäten GmbH & Co. KG is ceasing operations after 53 years. This was announced by insolvency administrator Michael Schütte. The site in the Westphalian town of Werl-Westönnen in the Soest district is thus lost for good. Schütte spoke of a bitter end for a company with a long tradition in the German confectionery industry.
Back in 2024, the company had expanded its capacities and acquired new machinery. But it was precisely during this phase that raw cocoa prices exploded. Looking back, Schütte describes the situation as follows: "Das war ein Zeitpunkt, wo die Umsätze erweitert werden sollten - aber eben auch der Punkt, an dem die Rohstoffpreise für Kakao explodierten". The combination of investments and rising procurement costs pushed the company into economic difficulties.
