Eisenstadt, 14 July 2026

A 39-year-old former employee of baby food manufacturer Hipp, born in Slovakia, will remain in pre-trial detention until 14 September on suspicion of extortion, grievous bodily harm, and document forgery.

As a spokesperson for the Eisenstadt Regional Court told APA on Tuesday, there continues to be an urgent suspicion of having committed the acts of extortion, grievous bodily harm, and document forgery. The decision on the extension had already been made on Monday, even though the court would actually have had until 17 August.

The reason for the early decision: the 39-year-old's defence lawyer had filed a motion for release from detention. The court then extended the pre-trial detention on grounds of flight risk and the danger of further offences. The accused denies having anything to do with the act.
