In the preliminary hearing against the alleged murderer of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk, his roommate Lance Twiggs testified by video that the defendant Tyler Robinson had been crying immediately after the act and had said he wished he hadn't done it.

Background

The preliminary hearing against Tyler Robinson is taking place at the Fourth District Courthouse in Provo in the US state of Utah, roughly ten months after the act on the campus of Utah Valley University. There, Charlie Kirk was hit in the neck on September 10, 2025, at around 12:23 p.m. during a debate organized by the group Turning Point USA before an audience of around 3,000 people, and died shortly afterward in the hospital from his injuries. Kirk was 31 years old and co-founder of Turning Point USA; he supported Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" movement.
