Princess Kate (44) climbed Britain's three highest mountains within 24 hours last weekend to raise funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, at whose clinic she herself was treated.
The route: Three peaks in one day
The National Three Peaks Challenge takes participants in a single day across the highest summits of Scotland, England and Wales: Ben Nevis (1,345 metres) in Scotland, Scafell Pike (978 metres) in England, and Snowdon, or Yr Wyddfa (1,085 metres) in Wales. In total, according to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, around 40 kilometres of walking and more than 3,000 metres of elevation gain must be covered, along with roughly 740 kilometres of driving between the mountains. According to reports, around 30,000 people attempt the route each year.
