Public Viewing in Austria: Where Fans Can Watch Austria vs. Spain

Donauturm, Francis, and Palais Freiluft

One of Vienna's most prominent venues is the Donauturm at Donauturmplatz 1, 1220 Vienna. The Austria vs. Spain match will be shown on several big screens — either outdoors or in the air-conditioned indoor area. Easily accessible via the U1 to Alte Donau or Kaisermühlen-VIC, as well as the U6 to Neue Donau. For around 100 euros, an all-you-can-eat offer is available with finger food and pizza, as well as all-you-can-drink with beer, wine, and soft drinks.

In the Francis business district at Julius-Tandler-Platz 3, 1090 Vienna (Althan Quartier), selected World Cup matches will be shown free of charge on a large outdoor screen. Admission is free, with space for around 500 guests. Children are also welcome; there is a dedicated area for the little football fans.

The Palais Freiluft in the garden of Palais Auersperg (Trautsongasse 1b, 1080 Vienna) will show the match on an LED wall. Tickets are already sold out; however, KURIER is raffling off four tickets.

Vienna Traditions Fall by the Wayside This Year

The Gleis//Garten at Eichenstraße 2, 1120 Vienna, broadcasts selected World Cup matches on an XXL screen. Reservations can be made for groups of five or more; spontaneous visitors are also welcome. The flash Café at Adolf-Schmidl-Gasse 4, 1200 Vienna, also shows matches throughout the World Cup that fall within the venue's opening hours.

Some traditional Viennese public viewing events are not taking place this year. In Vienna, this affected several traditional events — including Rathausplatz, Prater, and Strandbar Hermann. The reason: many matches begin well after closing time.

Public Viewing in Lower Austria and Burgenland

Broadcasts are also being held outside Vienna. Cineplexx Mattersburg at Arenaplatz 7/1, 7210 Mattersburg, will broadcast the Round of 16 match between Austria and Spain live on the big cinema screen. At the Sporthotel Kurz in Oberpullendorf (Stadiongasse 16, 7350), matches will be shown live on a 21-square-meter LED screen.

The city of Wiener Neustadt is staging its largest public viewing to date in the Stadtpark. Up to 750 visitors can watch the World Cup blockbuster Austria vs. Spain on the "Löwenherz" terrace and in the Neue Bastei of the Kasematten. Access is exclusively via the Stadtpark; admission is free; doors open at 19:00 or 19:30.

Additional Broadcasts on the Schedule

The city of Gänserndorf is broadcasting the match at the Rathausplatz from 21:00, with catering by Marchfelder Event Catering. Further broadcasts: Semifinals on 14 July and 15 July, each from 20:00; Final on 19 July from 20:00. At the Genusshütte am Mödlingbach, the pre-match program for the big game, which kicks off at 21:00, begins at 16:00. The city officials, led by Mayor Silvia Drechsler, are convinced: "Gemeinsam für Österreich Daumen drücken ist einfach das Schönste bei einer solchen Großveranstaltung."
