Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked North Korea for its military support of Russia in the war against Ukraine during a meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui at the Kremlin.

During the talks on Sunday at the Kremlin, Putin honored the "heroic deeds" of the North Korean soldiers and assured that Russia would never forget them. "One will never forget the heroic deeds of the North Korean soldiers," Putin said according to AFP. The North Korean fighters would be "honored just like our compatriots," the Kremlin chief emphasized. He also announced that he would thank Pyongyang "once again" for the support provided to Russia's "special operation" — a term Russia officially uses to describe the war against Ukraine as a "special military operation."
