The presenter of ZDF's "Fernsehgarten," Andrea Kiewel, has apologized for a statement made during an episode themed "90er Dance Party," in which she referred to a Japanese Pokémon card as "Chinese" and strung syllables together.
In the show broadcast last Sunday, two collectors showed the presenter a series of Pokémon cards, including a card set in various languages. When looking at a Japanese card, Kiewel said "Chinesisch," followed by "Ching Chong Chaang." The scene sparked significant criticism on social media immediately after airing.
