Basketball star Kawhi Leonard is reportedly on the verge of a move from the Los Angeles Clippers back to the Toronto Raptors, the NBA's only Canadian team, according to ESPN journalist Shams Charania.
Leonard's Second Stint in Toronto
After seven years in Los Angeles, the 35-year-old Leonard is expected to play in Toronto again, where he experienced one of the defining stretches of his career in the 2018/19 season. Charania, who first reported the upcoming trade, is one of the most influential sources in North American sports reporting. The Toronto Raptors have not officially confirmed the report so far.
Leonard won the NBA championship with the Raptors in 2019 and was named Finals MVP during that playoff run — just five years after his first title with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014, where he was likewise named the most valuable player of the Finals series. On that Spurs team, Leonard played alongside, among others, Tim Duncan and Tony Parker.
