Report: Konrad Laimer extends contract with FC Bayern until 2030

The past months were marked by a drawn-out contract poker between player and club. "Jetzt müssen wir irgendwie eine Brücke finden, was die Vorstellungen betrifft," Eberl was further quoted as saying. With the agreement now reported, that bridge appears to have been found.

Laimer has established himself as a reliable anchor at right-back and convinces with his endurance, combative edge and tactical discipline. The coach and club management also appreciate his flexibility, which allows him to be deployed both in the defensive line and in defensive midfield.

Laimer will also continue to feature for the Austrian national team at a high Bundesliga level. With his experience at RB Leipzig and FC Bayern, the 29-year-old is one of the defining players of Austria's current generation. An extension until 2030 would also secure his prospects for the upcoming major tournaments.

Significance for club and national team

FC Bayern had also been pushing ahead with other personnel matters in recent weeks, including talks with other key players. With the agreement now reached with Laimer, the club can tie down an important building block in the squad on a long-term basis. Both sides had recently emphasised that they could fundamentally envisage a continuation of their collaboration.

The financial terms of the new contract initially remained unclear. An official confirmation from FC Bayern Munich or the player was also still pending at the time of reporting. Sky and "Kicker" base their information on sources close to the negotiations.
