The New York Times reports that Donald Trump was driven off his plane in a catering vehicle after returning from the NATO summit in Turkey, in a Secret Service precaution that has renewed questions about his security posture.

According to a New York Times report cited across multiple outlets, Trump did not fly back to the United States on the standard aircraft after the NATO summit in Turkey. On the advice of the Secret Service, he instead used an older backup Air Force One, and on arrival at the British Royal Air Force base Mildenhall was moved from the plane in a catering vehicle rather than walking across the tarmac as presidents typically do.

The decision reflected what the Times described as heightened security concerns during a period of acute tension with Iran. Asked about those concerns by a reporter in Ankara, Trump responded with a blunt personal assessment. "Ich bin die Nummer 1 auf der Todesliste des Iran," he said, according to multiple outlets that corroborated the remark.
