US President Donald Trump surprisingly declined to use the new luxury aircraft from Qatar, with which he had arrived, for his return flight from the Nato summit in Turkey.
Instead, Trump took off on Wednesday from Ankara aboard a backup plane from his old Air Force One fleet. Journalists on board reported that the President had not used the Qatari jet for the journey home.
The Qatari aircraft had previously triggered speculation about possible security shortcomings. This fueled speculation that the Qatari plane had security flaws and could become the target of an Iranian attack. Concern about such a risk appeared to have played a role in the decision.
