Geneva, 3 November 2026
A research team at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva has discovered a rare particle decay, according to three reports based on the analysis of LHCb data.
The discovery stems from the analysis of data from 2024 and 2025. The research team combined these measurements with older LHCb data from 2011 to 2018.
This gave the team a data set combining more recent observations with a longer period of earlier measurements. Two sources confirmed details of the finding.
Measurement data from multiple years
A team from the LHCb experiment used this data to investigate the rare decay behavior of a particle. The name of the particle involved is not apparent from the verified information.
The results were obtained at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, CERN, in Geneva. The reports describe the finding as the discovery of a rare particle decay.
