Ulrich Stephan, Deutsche Bank’s chief investment strategist for private and corporate clients, of which Postbank is a part, explained in Frankfurt that rising real wages do not give many households financial security.

The average recovery in employees’ purchasing power has not led to an easing of the financial situation for all households alike. According to Ulrich Stephan, the distribution of available funds remains uneven.

According to the Deutsche Bank’s chief investment strategist, many people are unable to build a cushion for times of crisis. This means they have no additional reserves to help with unexpected expenses or economic pressures.

Reserves remain lacking

Rising real wages are therefore a positive signal for the labor market, but according to Stephan, they are not enough to strengthen reserve accumulation across all households. For parts of the population, the financial margin remains limited.
