When a section of the cliff coast below the Biarritz lighthouse collapsed on Wednesday evening, one diver lost her life, and a second has been missing since Thursday morning, according to authorities.

According to the prefecture, three divers were in the vicinity of the accident site on the Biarritz cliff coast in southwestern France at the time of the disaster. Approximately 2,000 cubic meters of rock broke off below the lighthouse on Wednesday evening and plunged into the sea.
