Russia has threatened the United Kingdom with "consequences" after British media reported on the military use of British drones by Ukraine; London rejected the threat and announced a resolute response.
Background
Following a report by the Sunday Times, the United Kingdom had secretly delivered drones to the Ukrainian army, which is using them in combat against Russian positions. Moscow reacted sharply, declaring that the United Kingdom would have to "answer" for its military cooperation with Ukraine and pay a "price." The wording comes from an official statement circulated by several Russian news agencies over the weekend.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had already criticised Western states in recent weeks over their weapons deliveries to Kyiv. With the current threat, Moscow is stepping up its tone toward London and portraying Britain's role in the Ukraine conflict as direct participation in the war. British government representatives rejected this characterisation immediately.
