Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital Kyiv overnight into Saturday with rockets, cruise missiles, and drones; according to Ukrainian authorities, at least 20 people were killed in the mutual strikes.

According to Ukrainian authorities, Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital Kyiv with eight rockets and cruise missiles as well as 136 drones. The Ukrainian Air Force said it had repelled some of the attacks; nevertheless, projectiles struck residential buildings and infrastructure. Mayor Vitali Klitschko spoke of destruction in several districts of the city of millions.

Scale of the attacks

According to information from Kyiv, at least 20 people were killed in the wave of attacks. The exact number of injured has not yet been definitively tallied by the emergency services. In the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, a 40-year-old woman was killed in an attack, as the governor of the region, Oleh Syniehubov, announced on Telegram.
