The 39-year-old extreme swimmer Andreas Waschburger from the Saarland has completed the "20 Bridges Swim" around Manhattan in around 5 hours and 32 minutes, beating the previous record. With this performance, he became the fastest swimmer in the history of the Triple Crown of open-water swimming.
The Saarland extreme swimmer Andreas Waschburger has completed the "20 Bridges Swim" around Manhattan in a new record time of around 5 hours and 32 minutes, setting two best marks in the process.
Waschburger, the 39-year-old, started in the early morning hours and completed the approximately 46-kilometer course, which passes under 20 bridges, in about 5 hours and 32 minutes. According to his management and the New York open-water federation, he beat the previous best mark set by Mexico's David Olvera by around two minutes. The 39-year-old was thus two minutes faster than the previous record holder.
