During the summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) hosted in Durban, a demonstration against foreign migrants sparked moments of tension, while South African President Cyril Ramaphosa denounced the discrimination and threats faced by migrant workers in the country.

The protest took place alongside the work of the regional summit, drawing attention to the climate of hostility that, according to human rights organizations, has affected in recent months the citizens of other African countries residing in South Africa. Protesters and law enforcement clashed at multiple points along the march route, with scuffles reported in several central areas of Durban.
