The South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics has warned of a persistent shortage of semiconductor chips that, according to the company's assessment, will continue for years to come.

The warning comes from precisely the division that contributes the largest share to the electronics giant's profit. As Samsung announced, the Device Solutions (DS) division, which is responsible for semiconductor chip manufacturing, generated 89.2 trillion won in the past fiscal year, accounting for almost the entire profit of the group. According to the company, high utilization of production will also continue in the coming quarters.
