An unfamiliar opponent awaits in the round of the best 16 on Saturday: the Czech pair Adam Gawlas and Karel Sedlacek are the German team's next adversaries. If things go for Schindler and Pietreczko as they did last year, they could again go deep in the competition this time. In 2025, they only came unstuck in the semifinals – after having, among others, knocked out the then title defenders England, featuring individual world champion Luke Littler and his partner Luke Humphries, in the round of 16.

England enter the fray only in the round of 16

England's team, spearheaded by reigning individual world champion Luke Littler, are not called upon until the round of 16 this year. Along with Scotland, the Netherlands and Northern Ireland, England received a bye in the group stage and enters directly into the knockout round. In the round of 16, England will face Spain. That means a potential German-English duel is only possible from the quarterfinals onward at the earliest.

Prize money significantly increased

The organizers have noticeably increased the incentives for triumph in Frankfurt am Main this year. The winning team of the World Cup of Darts will receive 100,000 British pounds, equivalent to around 115,000 euros. It is therefore not only about sporting honor, but also about one of the highest prize pots awarded in team darts.

The venue is the Frankfurt Arena, which has established itself in recent years as a firm fixture on the international darts calendar. The tournament format stipulates that the 16 remaining teams, starting from the round of 16, face off against each other in a knockout mode until this year's world champion in the team event is determined in the final. For German fans, the qualification for the round of 16 means that at least one more appearance of the Schindler-Pietreczko duo in front of a home crowd is guaranteed.

Schindler and Pietreczko have been playing together for years in national competitions and also form a well-coordinated duo by international standards. The blend of Schindler's consistency and Pietreczko's throwing power is considered one of the team's greatest strengths. Should the German duo match their group-stage performance, they will be in a strong starting position in the round of 16 against Czechia.
