Vienna Police announced a detailed analysis of the incident as well as a review of the discharge of firearms by internal oversight bodies. This is also intended to clarify whether the use of firearms was proportionate. In the case of a 16-year-old driver, questions also arise regarding how he obtained a driver's license and the origin of the vehicle.

Residents in the Prater area reported that they had heard several police sirens in the early morning hours and seen patrol cars driving at high speed through residential streets. There were initially no indications of a collision with pedestrians or cyclists.

Vienna's Südosttangente was closed for around 40 minutes during the operation in the northbound direction. There were significant traffic jams on the alternative routes via Triester Straße and Laxenburger Straße. The traffic situation returned to normal by midday.
