The change on "Soko Leipzig" follows the departure of Marco Girnth, who portrayed the TV investigator Jan Maybach for 25 years and, after nearly 500 episodes in total, died a dramatic on-screen death in the 26th season. According to the production, Girnth's character's departure was planned long in advance and has now been implemented.

Asked about his new task, Böer is enthusiastic. "Ich liebe Leipzig - das ist schon einmal eine hervorragende Voraussetzung, um hier länger zu ermitteln und ich freue mich sehr, nach der Sommerpause schon in die Dreharbeiten der nächsten Staffel einzusteigen". He adds: "Es ist schön, diesen Charakter über einen längeren Zeitraum zu entwickeln und mit dem Zuschauer gemeinsam entdecken zu dürfen".

With Böer, an actor who already has extensive ZDF experience joins the ensemble. He has appeared in other ZDF crime formats such as "Professor T," "Notruf Hafenkante," and in other "Soko" spin-offs. He was also seen in the family series "Herzensbrecher - Vater von vier Söhnen."

Böer's Background

The 51-year-old completed his acting training at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen in Potsdam. A native of Bonn, he was also engaged at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, according to his own account, and has been in front of the camera "seit mehr als zwanzig Jahren," according to his own statements. In his free time, he explores the Leipzig area on his motorcycle, according to his own account.

It is also interesting for the crime series that Böer himself once seriously considered a career with the criminal police: "Tatsächlich wollte ich früher mal zur Kripo". This biographical turn gives his entry into the "Soko" format an additional personal touch.

Outlook on the New Season

According to the broadcaster, he has already shot initial episodes for his role. He has been signed on for a total of 25 new episodes. With that, the series — the first spin-off of the Munich "Soko 5113" and today the only "Soko" format in ZDF's prime-time lineup — heads into a new round with strengthened personnel.

At his side continue to be Melanie Marschke as Criminal Chief Inspector Ina Zimmermann, as well as Amy Mußul and Johannes Hendrik Langer. The new quartet is intended to absorb the loss of Marco Girnth's long-standing character Jan Maybach while also bringing new investigative dynamics to the Leipzig team.
