Jannik Sinner defended his Wimbledon title on Sunday in London, defeating Alexander Zverev in four sets in the final.

The 24-year-old Italian overcame Zverev 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4, celebrating his fifth Grand Slam triumph overall. After more than three and a half hours on Centre Court, Sinner barely showed signs of the strain. He thereby joins an exclusive circle: since the start of the Open Era nearly 60 years ago, only nine players before him had successfully defended the men's Wimbledon title.

"Es war richtig hart nach Paris", admitted Jannik Sinner. Following his collapse at the French Open, where he held a clear lead in the second round and had to retire in the heat, the world number one had in the meantime lost three consecutive Grand Slam finals: the US Open final against Carlos Alcaraz and the Australian Open semifinal against Novak Djokovic.
