The long-serving president of the aid organization "Hilfe im eigenen Land," Sissi Pröll, has stepped down from her role after 15 years and hands over to federal leader Elfriede Straßhofer, who will manage operations on an interim basis.

Fifteen years at the helm

Sissi Pröll had been the first president of the association "Hilfe im eigenen Land" since May 2011 and significantly shaped the Lower Austrian aid organization. As stated in a press release, she stepped down from her role at a general assembly. Until a new president is appointed, federal leader Elfriede Straßhofer will take over the duties on an interim basis.

The association was founded in 1965 and supports people who have fallen into hardship through no fault of their own – for instance, due to personal crises or natural disasters. Last year, total donations amounted to 830,000 euros. Under Pröll's presidency, the organization developed into an effective and indispensable point of contact for people in need, according to the review.
