Under the Austrian government’s plans, people who fail to meet their integration obligations or are unavailable to the labor market are to receive at least 25 percent less social assistance in the future.
The new rules would be linked to the payment of social assistance. A violation of integration obligations or a lack of willingness to be available to the labor market is therefore expected to have consequences for eligibility.
Who would lose benefits
A reduction of at least 25 percent is envisaged. Under governmental rules, benefits may also be completely canceled in certain cases. The proposal thus mentions, for the first time, the possibility of a complete withdrawal in connection with such violations of obligations.
