Vienna, 20 August 2026
The Austrian government is reaffirming its roadmap for the social assistance reform by 2027, while concrete contents – particularly regarding the integration phase and the integration allowance – continue to be negotiated between the responsible ministries.
The Ministry of Social Affairs says it assumes that the responsible offices are conscious of the tight schedule. The negotiations on the individual building blocks are taking place at working level, it added. There has so far been no official confirmation of the interim results achieved so far.
At the center of the discussion is the planned integration phase. On this, the Ministry of Social Affairs stated: "Die Legistik zum Integrationspflichtengesetz wurde den Koalitionspartnern Anfang des Jahres übermittelt, die Verhandlungen dazu laufen." It thus remains open when a finished draft will be available.
