In the ZDF summer interview in Tutzing, Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder (CSU) issued a clear rejection of cooperation with the AfD, directly contradicting his Saxon CDU colleague Michael Kretschmer.

CSU leader Markus Söder continues to reject any form of cooperation with the AfD. In the ZDF summer interview in Tutzing on Lake Starnberg, the Bavarian Minister-President said he would not participate in such cooperation and was "fundamentally" opposed to it. With regard to the majority conditions in eastern Germany, Söder advocated that the CDU continue to govern there without the AfD. Politics must be shaped from the center of democracy, "and therefore the AfD does not belong there," Söder said verbatim.
