The 18-year-old Fynn Thome from Schmelz-Limbach won gold in the 1,500 meters at the Special Olympics in Luxembourg and is now preparing for the national games in Germany, taking place from June 15 to 20.

Fynn Thome is autistic and comes from Schmelz-Limbach in Saarland. About a year ago, he signed up for the 2025 Special Olympics State Games – the beginning of a development that has fundamentally changed his everyday life. At the State Games at the Sportcampus Saar in Saarbrücken, he ran the 5,000 meters in a time of 25:39 minutes and won the silver medal.

In November, he was nominated by Special Olympics Deutschland for the national games, which were held at the Sportzentrum Coque in Luxembourg. In the 1,500-meter final, Thome was in last place at one point, but fought his way past eight competitors in an impressive comeback and secured the gold medal with a personal best of 6:17 minutes.
