The streaming service Spotify wants to clearly mark music profiles behind which no real person stands as AI-generated going forward and partly ban them from its recommendations, the company announced.

The music streaming service Spotify is tightening its handling of artificially generated music. In the future, profiles that exclusively publish AI-generated content should be clearly identifiable on the platform – and in certain cases no longer appear in users' recommendations. The company announced this on Tuesday.

According to its own statements, the background to the decision is feedback from listeners. As Spotify explained, the response had been clear: users wanted to be able to recognize whether a real person or an AI-generated persona stood behind a profile.
