Former Austrian Defense Minister Thomas Starlinger has criticized the government's compromise on military service reform as 'highly irresponsible' toward deployed soldiers and the Austrian population.
In an interview with the Ö1 radio program, Starlinger accused the coalition of sending soldiers into complex and potentially dangerous missions under the planned model without them being adequately trained. He called the compromise model a 'very bad compromise.' As a career officer and member of the General Staff of the Austrian Armed Forces, Starlinger is a member of the Military Service Commission.
