Steyr, August 17, 2026
The Austrian specialty engine manufacturer Steyr Motors has slipped into the red in the current fiscal year, even though the company is planning with an extensive order book for military vehicles and marine propulsion systems.
The company, which is, among other things, to supply Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for around 500 Leopard 2 tanks by 2034 to a German-French defense group, reported a negative EBIT. This marks a reversal of the company's earnings situation compared with previous fiscal years.
According to the company, the high order backlog comprises several major projects: the APU supply for the Leopard 2 tank, a US Navy tender for 474 boats specified to use Steyr Motors engines, as well as 1,000 military vehicles for a Spanish customer. In addition, there are orders in the civilian marine segment.
