The Heidelberger Druckmaschinen Group recorded a year-on-year revenue decline of more than 60 million euros in the past quarter, attributing it primarily to the expiration of a state-subsidized investment program in Italy.

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen announced that the end of a state-subsidized investment program in Italy weighed significantly on the quarter just ended. Compared with the same period a year earlier, revenue in this area fell by more than 60 million euros. The company classified the effect as a key one-off factor behind the weak business performance.

According to the company, the investment program had been state-subsidized and had, over several quarters, generated increased demand for printing presses from the Italian market. With the removal of this subsidy, this demand stimulus disappeared, so that Italian customers placed significantly fewer orders in the current reporting period than in the previous year.
