German tennis professional Jan-Lennard Struff has reached the last 16 at the Wimbledon Championships for the first time with a 7:6, 7:6, 7:5 victory over eighth-seeded Daniil Medvedev and will face Poland's Hubert Hurkacz there.

Jan-Lennard Struff's season so far had been disappointing: at 16 tournaments, he exited in the first round nine times, in the second round six times, and once in qualifying. All the more remarkable, then, is his success in London, where he survived the third round against a player from the world's top ten.

In the first set, Struff fell behind early: at 1:1 he was broken, which on grass can often be decisive. But the German fought back, leveled the set, and forced a tiebreak, which he won 7:4.
