Vienna, Austria — May 15, 2026

A recent survey reveals that just over half of Austrians consider their financial situation stable, marking a significant decline since late 2025.

Financial Confidence Declines Sharply

According to the latest IMAS report, 58% of Austrians currently describe their financial situation as "very good" or "rather good," a notable drop from the 67% who reported similar confidence in November 2025. The survey, conducted in April 2026 with 1,030 statistically representative participants aged 16 and older, highlights a growing divide in economic well-being.

Nearly half (43%) of respondents said their financial circumstances have worsened since November, while only 7% reported improvement. The decline is most pronounced among low-income earners and single-person households, with 62% of those already struggling financially reporting further deterioration.
