Sixty percent of Austrians consider their country poorly prepared for climate change, according to the Climate Concern Monitor presented on Tuesday by the market research institute Integral.

For the current survey, 1,000 people were polled online in mid- and late June. According to the institute, the sample is representative of the Austrian resident population aged 18 to 75. The Climate Concern Monitor has been continuously tracking the perceptions and attitudes of the 16- to 75-year-old population on climate change since August 2022.

Respondents are aware that climate change affects many areas of life. 74 percent said they were concerned about the current drought. 90 percent expect domestic agriculture to come under greater pressure, 83 percent fear future impacts on the global food supply, and 80 percent anticipate an increase in climate-related migration.
