Following a suspected cyberattack, the temperatures in refrigeration and freezer units at several European supermarkets were apparently raised remotely on November 2, 2026, putting food at risk.

A Swedish supermarket said on social media that the temperature in its refrigeration and freezer units had been raised to around ten degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit). This was far above normal refrigeration temperatures, potentially damaging stored food or making it unfit for consumption.

What happened at the affected stores

The disruption was not limited to a single location. According to available reports, similar problems occurred at other supermarkets across Europe. Sources cited said affected locations included stores in Sweden, Luxembourg, Belgium and France.
