Death-row inmate Christa Pike of Tennessee waived her usual last meal on the weekend before her execution and had the meal intended for her redirected as a pizza donation to the homeless.

Donation Instead of Last Meal

According to supporters, the decision by the 50-year-old inmate came shortly before the execution date set for early October. Rather than ordering a personal menu of her choosing, Pike worked through her attorney to forward the funds to a Nashville aid organization that distributes hot meals to people without housing. The menu reportedly consisted of pizza, which was delivered to several emergency shelters over the weekend.
