Thebert Metallbau from Tumeltsham files for insolvency for the second time within a year

The company cites the persistently difficult situation in the construction industry as the main reason. High-quality construction projects have almost completely collapsed, and the expected market recovery failed to materialize. Even the acceptance of smaller orders and cost-saving measures could not stop the downward trend.

Causes of the Renewed Failure

In addition, the situation worsened because many suppliers switched to prepayment, which massively strained the company's liquidity. This development further increased the pressure on the already strained financial situation.

Liabilities amount to 1.17 million euros, while assets at liquidation values, including outstanding customer receivables, are expected to amount to around 500,000 euros. This is offset by assets of approximately 500,000 euros. These include, among other things, outstanding receivables, half-finished projects, and bank balances, which will now be examined and realized in the insolvency proceedings.

Financial Situation and Assets

A continuation of the business is not envisaged according to the insolvency application; instead, the closure of the company is being pursued. The business is to be shut down. The management has already agreed to the closure in the application for opening.

The bankruptcy proceedings were opened on July 10, 2026. Bankruptcy proceedings were opened on Friday over the assets of Thebert Metallbau GmbH, headquartered in Tumeltsham. Creditors can register their claims until October 7, 2026.

Consequences for Employees and Creditors

For the affected employees – 16 employees, including apprentices – the Insolvency Wage Fund initially steps in. This secures outstanding wages and salaries for a transitional period, while those affected can reorient themselves.

The case is exemplary of the tense situation in the domestic construction industry, in which numerous craft and supplier businesses are struggling with declining order volumes, rising material costs, and tightened payment conditions. The second insolvency within such a short period of time underscores the severity of the industry crisis in the Innviertel region.
