Belfast, 13 June 2026

Several thousand people demonstrated against racism in Belfast on Saturday, thereby taking a stand against days-long far-right riots in the Northern Irish city.

Mass demonstration at City Hall

The rally took place under the motto "Together against hate" in front of City Hall. According to the PA news agency, the organization Unite Against Racism had organized the rally at City Hall. The organizers spoke of one of the largest anti-racist demonstrations Belfast has seen in recent years.

The protest was prompted by severe, racially motivated riots that had shaken the city for days. "Previously, racist riots had shaken Belfast over several days," reported Deutschlandfunk in its coverage on 13 June 2026. Rioters had set vehicles and buildings on fire, masked groups had marched through the streets, and several police officers were injured.
