THW Kiel fought back from a second-half deficit to beat French side Montpellier HB 29-28 in the European League semifinals on Saturday in Hamburg, securing a spot in Sunday's final.

The German record champions led 15-12 at halftime after pulling ahead by five goals midway through the first half. Lukas Zerbe increased Kiel's advantage to 15-10 in the 26th minute, but Montpellier cut the deficit to three by the break.

Montpellier stormed out of the locker room with a 3-0 run to level the score at 16-16 in the 37th minute. Shortly after, David Balaguer struck twice in quick succession to give the French club a 20-18 lead in the 41st minute.

Montpellier's Second-Half Surge

Kiel responded by deploying a seventh field player, a tactical move that shifted momentum. The Zebras regained control and built a 27-24 lead by the 53rd minute, but Montpellier refused to fade.
