Tom Neuwirth returns to the musical stage as the Angel of Death

In a statement, Neuwirth describes the figure as personally significant: "The Angel of Death is a figure full of emotion, transformation, and depth for me. I love music and am discovering theater more and more as an artistic expression." In an appearance on the KURIER TV show "Herrlich Ehrlich - Menschen hautnah," he added: "The theatrical and dramatic element in performance suits me very well, and especially on a musical stage like this, it is called for."

Beyond the Berlin stop, the production can also be seen in other cities. In Düsseldorf, six performances featuring Neuwirth in this role are scheduled at the Capitol Theater, from 14 to 18 October 2026. Tickets for these dates start at 39.99 euros plus advance booking fees, according to ATG Entertainment.

Further stops in Düsseldorf and Vienna

The tour leg in Vienna follows afterwards. At the MuseumsQuartier, "Romeo & Julia - Love Is Everything" will be shown from 27 January to 7 February 2027. There, Neuwirth will "stand on the boards that mean the world for a total of 15 dates in Vienna," as the statement puts it. The artist is particularly looking forward to the performances in his hometown: "That is why I am very much looking forward to these very special evenings in Düsseldorf and especially to the guest performance in Vienna, my beloved hometown."

Theater and film engagements

In addition to his musical role, Tom Neuwirth is also active beyond the show stage. He celebrated great success at the Rabenhoftheater in Vienna playing the eccentric Archduke Ludwig Viktor - the youngest brother of Emperor Franz Josef - in the play "Luziwuzi." Previously, he had taken on the role of "Frosch" in the Pride edition of the operetta "Die Fledermaus" at the Wiener Volksoper, making a name for himself in the city's theater scene.

Outlook on the Vienna season

The 2014 ESC winner is also present on the film side. He appears in the vampire film "Die Blutgräfin" alongside Isabelle Huppert; he also played the figure "Frosch" last year. The cinema release of "Die Blutgräfin" is scheduled for the end of October. Since his ESC victory, Neuwirth has, as the statement continues, "in addition to three released studio albums," continuously expanded his artistic range.

Looking ahead at the further program, ATG Entertainment announces that Neuwirth will once again embody the Angel of Death in the Vienna edition of the production. The musical thus connects Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Vienna across multiple seasons - three venues at which the artist has been able to set his own accents.
