A court in Istanbul's Caglayan district has handed down lengthy prison sentences to four defendants in the case of a family of four from Hamburg who died from insecticide poisoning while on vacation in Turkey.

According to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa), the court found four of six defendants guilty. Those convicted include the owner of the pest control company, his son, an employee of the company, as well as the operator of the hotel where the family had been staying.

The Sentences in Detail

The owner of the pest control company received an 18-year prison sentence, as did his son. An employee of the company was sentenced to 12 years and two months. The hotel operator was sentenced to 13 years and four months in prison. The two accused receptionists were acquitted.
