Washington, June 29, 2026

Donald Trump announced on his platform Truth Social that construction work on a new golf course on a peninsula in Washington will begin on September 1, replacing the existing public East Potomac Golf Links.

The existing East Potomac Golf Links is located on a peninsula surrounded by the Potomac River, from which visitors can see well-known Washington monuments. The White House is only a few kilometers away. Sources report that Trump had himself driven to the site on Sunday and reviewed plans on location.

Trump wrote on Truth Social: "Am 1. September werden die Arbeiten für einen Golfplatz auf einer Halbinsel in der Stadt beginnen." The new course is to become "one of the best golf courses" in the world and be accessible to the public. He wants to enable the golf course to host major professional tournaments such as the US Open, the Ryder Cup, and the PGA Championship.
